POWERED PLEASURE CRAFT DRIVING LICENCE (PPCDL) COURSE

Thank you for enquiring about the PPCDL course conducted by the Singapore Powerboat Association (SPBA). Our instructors are professional and friendly ship officers who will render the highest standard of training services and make the course an enjoyable experience for trainees.

WHO IS REQUIRED TO HOLD A PPCDL?

Anyone who wishes or needs to drive a powered pleasure craft (including a jetski) in Singapore port waters must be licensed by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) to do so. Even if you do not think you will be driving one in the near future, it makes sense to get a PPCDL now because it is going to get more difficult and more expensive to get one in time to come. Furthermore, knowledge of boating and navigation is a survival skill and you never know when you might need it.

HOW DO I OBTAIN MY PPCDL?

Attend SPBA PPCDL Course, obtain SPBA PPCDL Certificate + pass medical exam -----> Take Theory Test -----> Take Practical Test after passing Theory Test -----> Apply for MPA PPCDL after passing Practical Test

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

The PPCDL course fee is $300/- for members of the public. 10% discount for SPBA. 10% discount for group of 3 & above. $230/- for students and uniformed youth group (GST will not be levied). It includes 14 hours of theory and 8 hours of practical, course notes and sample test questions. Medical examination can be arranged at about $25/- from any GP clinic. The fees for tests conducted by the Singapore Maritime Academy (SMA) are as follows:

Theory Test Fee - $20/- / Practical Test Fee - S$50/- (7% GST will be levied by SMA)
